The mid-Autumn festival tonight

image
Cong came around this afternoon with a gift of moon cake in a square tin. Tonight is the full moon in the middle of (the northern hemisphere) Autumn, and in China families gather and eat moon cake. So we did also. Only this much was left after Cong cycled off again an hour later. A few hours afterwards, as the sun was going down in the West, I saw the beautiful silver-white full moon lifting up off the Eastern horizon. Easy to see why ancient peoples were fascinated by the moon.

Rogaine for the first time

image
Toby Neilson organised a quick game of ragaine after a morning bedding in 400+ totora plants on a hill slope at Living Springs with 50 mainly Muslim students. Thirty of us joined the game and spent 75 minutes ploughing through bush, trudging along tracks and scampering on the road. First time I’d done it. I was teamed with Farzin and Marzin. VERY enjoyable. We came 3rd!

Need to wait a little longer …

Cong went for his restricted licence today, in the rain, but wasn't able to satisfy the examiner. Poor guy! I had thought he would pass comfortably. But he was a foot or two away from the centre line at several right hand turns ... and although the Indian tester did all he could to nudge him over the line, he got a fail. Next time!

The Smart Phone has landed

Jenni allowed us to charge the battery in her phone a few days ago, and yesterday OKed me to switch her number over to the Moto g2. Today she took less than a minute to choose a cover. She's going to be surprised how quickly the $230 device becomes useful!

Dylan 36 years ago

Today 36 years ago, Bob Dylan astounded his audience (again) by putting out this plain statement of a newly-found faith in the Lord Jesus. Radio DJs then, and still, generally played the Sunday School tracks, perhaps because they were embarrassed or upset with the full-on worship of the best numbers. The title track remains powerful and personal.
